What is Support at Home?

The program offers 8 classification levels based on your assessed needs, with quarterly budgets that give you flexibility and control over how your funding is used.

Support at Home Funding Amounts

Your funding level is determined by a government assessment based on your care needs. Higher levels provide more funding for greater care requirements.

Classification Annual Funding Quarterly Budget Care Level
Level 1 $11,963 $2,991 Basic care needs
Level 2 $21,082 $5,271 Low care needs
Level 3 $33,293 $8,323 Intermediate care needs

Funding amounts are set by the Australian Government and reviewed annually. Clinical care services have no client contribution. Your actual costs depend on your income assessment.

Client Contributions

Under Support at Home, most clients pay a contribution towards their care (except for clinical services which are 100% government funded). Your contribution depends on your income and assets assessment.

Full Age Pension

Lower contributions, typically around 5% of your funding.

Part Pension

Moderate contributions based on your income assessment.

Self-Funded Retiree

Higher contributions, up to 17% depending on your means.

Important: There are lifetime and annual caps on how much you'll pay. No one pays more than they can afford.

Support at Home FAQs

Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages from November 2025. Key differences include: 8 classification levels instead of 4 packages, quarterly budgets instead of daily subsidies, 100% funded clinical care, and a higher maximum funding of $78,106/year (up from $63,440). The new system provides more transparency and flexibility.

You may be eligible if you're 65 years or older (50+ for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), and need support to continue living at home safely. You'll need to have an assessment through My Aged Care to determine your eligibility and classification level. Even if you don't meet age requirements, you may qualify under other programs—contact us to discuss your situation.

After contacting My Aged Care, you'll typically receive an assessment within 2-4 weeks. Once assessed and approved, you can start receiving services immediately after choosing a provider like GNA. The government is working to reduce wait times to 3 months maximum by 2027. If you're already receiving services, there's no gap in care when transitioning providers.

We understand continuity is important. While we can't guarantee we can employ your existing carer, we work hard to match you with carers who suit your preferences, personality, and care needs. Many clients find they quickly build strong relationships with their new GNA carers. We prioritise consistency, so you'll see familiar faces regularly.

Your care plan is flexible and reviewed regularly. If your needs increase, you can request a reassessment to move to a higher classification level with more funding. If your needs are temporary (e.g., recovering from surgery), we can adjust services within your existing plan. Your GNA care coordinator will help you navigate any changes and ensure you're getting the right level of support.
